Air Injection: Description and Operation

The air injector reactor system, Fig. 17, consists of an electric air pump, check valve, air switching valve and an air manifold with injection nozzles.
The air pump passes air through the air switching valve and check valve, then into the air manifold. As hot exhaust gases leave the combustion chamber, it meets with air from the air injection nozzle located in the exhaust port to burn some part of the hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
