The purpose of the air switching valve, Fig. 21, is to switch air flow from air pump. It is operated by intake manifold vacuum. When manifold vacuum levels are higher then specified values, valve allows air flow from air pump to check valve. When manifold vacuum drops below specified level, air valve shuts air passage to check valve and opens port to atmosphere, allowing air from air pump to escape into atmosphere.
