Ignition Timing: Adjustments

Timing Mark:

1. Warm engine to operating temperature. Hook up a tachometer.
2. Turn all accessories "OFF."
3. Ensure that idle speed is 900 rpm and adjust if needed.
4. Disconnect and plug distributor vacuum line.
5. Hook up a timing light to either number 1 or 4 plug wire.
6. Check timing by aiming light at crank pulley notch and adjust as needed by loosening and turning distributor.
7. Tighten distributor and recheck timing. Readjust idle speed if needed.

Timing specification: 6 degrees BTDC @ 900 rpm
