Clutch: Service and Repair

Fig. 1 Pressure plate attaching bolt tightening sequence:





1. Remove transmission, refer to TRANSMISSION.
2. Mark clutch assembly to flywheel for installation in original position.
3. Remove pressure plate assembly attaching bolts and pressure plate assembly.
4. Remove clutch driven disc assembly.
5. Remove shift collar retaining spring.
6. Remove shift collar and bearing.
7. Remove clutch shift fork assembly.
8. Remove flywheel retaining bolt and washer, then the flywheel assembly.
9. Remove pilot bearing. Remove bearing only if bearing is being replaced.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque pressure plate assembly attaching bolts to 12-14 ft. lbs. in proper sequence, Fig. 1.
b. Lubricate clutch shift fork assembly with suitable grease.
