Alternator: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then isolate cable end with electrical tape or equivalent.
2. Remove coolant reservoir tank.
3. Rotate the drive belt tension pulley clockwise, then remove drive belt from power steering pump.
4. Remove heat shield.
5. Remove power steering pump from engine, then position pump in place of coolant reservoir.
6. Disconnect wiring harness from alternator assembly.
7. Remove the two alternator retaining bolts, then alternator from vehicle.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque alternator retaining bolts to 17 ft. lbs.
b. Torque power steering pump retaining bolts to 11 ft. lbs.
