Power Window Motor: Description and Operation

The circuit breaker applies battery voltage at all times to the power window relay. With the ignition switch in ON or START, fuse 7 applies battery voltage to the power window relay. The power window relay energizes and allows battery voltage from the circuit breaker to the driver's power window switch.

DRIVER'S POWER WINDOW SWITCH

When the driver's power window switch is moved to UP, battery voltage is applied to the power window motor. The motor's ground path is routed through the driver's power window switch to ground G20O and the power window motor drives the window up as long as the switch is held. When the driver's power window switch is moved to DOWN, battery voltage applied to the power window motor in the opposite direction. The motor drives the window down as long as the switch is held.

When the driver's power window switch (right hand switch) is moved to UP, battery voltage is applied through the passenger's power window switch contacts to the passenger's power window motor. The motor is grounded through the contacts in the passenger's power window switch and the driver's power window switch to ground G200. The window moves up as long as the switch is held in the UP position. If the driver's power window switch (right hand switch) is moved to DOWN, battery voltage is applied to the passenger's power window motor in the opposite direction. The window moves down as long as the switch is held in the DOWN position.

PASSENGER'S POWER WINDOW SWITCH

The Passenger window can be operated from the driver's power window switch or the passenger's power window switch. The passenger's window switch can only operate the window when the lock switch in the driver's power window switch is in the ON position.

When the passenger's right window switch is moved to UP, battery voltage is applied to the passenger's power window motor. The motor is grounded through the contacts in the passenger's power window switch and the driver's power window switch to ground G200. The window moves up as long as the switch is held in the UP position. if the passenger's power window switch is moved to DOWN, battery voltage is applied to the passenger's power window motor in the opposite direction. The window moves down as long as the switch is held in the DOWN position
