Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Disassembly and Reassembly

1. Remove caliper assembly.
2. Disconnect rubber brake line.
3. Drain all fluid from caliper and pad the interior of caliper with clean shop towels.
4. Remove piston from caliper using shop air. Do not place fingers in way of caliper piston, as injury may result. Use just enough compressed air to remove piston from bore.
5. Remove piston boot and seal.
6. Remove bleeder valve.
7. Inspect bore for damage and remove light corrosion using crocus cloth. Replace if excessive corrosion or scoring is present.
8. Clean thoroughly using denatured alcohol and dry with filtered/dry compressed air.
9. Reverse procedure to install, lubricating piston, boot and seal with clean brake fluid. Tighten to specifications.
