Engine: Service and Repair

1. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Relieve fuel system pressure as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
3. Disconnect battery ground.
4. Disconnect under hood lamp wire and windshield washer/vacuum hoses.
5. Scribe hood alignment marks for installation and remove engine hood.
6. On models with A/C, evacuate and recover refrigerant from A/C system.
7. Drain engine oil.
8. Remove transmission to engine mounting bolts.
9. Remove engine mount through bolts.
10. Disconnect all heater hoses and remove radiator.
11. On models with A/C, proceed as follows:
a. Remove A/C condenser.
b. Disconnect A/C line from evaporator core to accumulator.
c. Disconnect A/C line to compressor at accumulator.
12. Remove heater core hoses at bulk head.
13. Disconnect throttle cable and drive belt.
14. Remove power steering pump and bracket.
15. Disconnect electrical connectors and wiring harness.
16. Disconnect vacuum lines.
17. Remove engine.
18. Remove pressure plate and clutch disc.
19. Remove flywheel.
20. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten to specifications.
21. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
