Engine Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair

NOTE: Care must be taken when handling an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Damage to the ECT sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

Remove or Disconnect
1. Relieve coolant system pressure.
2. Ignition "OFF."
3. The ECT sensor electrical connector.
4. The ECT sensor.

Install or Connect
1. Coat threads (only) with sealer.
2. ECT sensor.

Tighten The ECT sensor to 25 Nm (18.5 ft. lbs.).

3. ECT electrical connector.
4. Refill lost coolant
