Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

Evaporator Core Assembly:





EVAPORATOR CORE

Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notes.
2. Recover refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery.
3. Hood. Refer to Hood Replacement in Sheet Metal.
4. Right fender. Refer to Render Replacement in Sheet Metal.
5. Right front wheel house panel. Refer to Wheel House Panel Replacement in Sheet Metal.
6. Evaporator tube from evaporator. Refer to Evaporator Tube.
7. Accumulator. Refer to Accumulator.
8. Evaporator core assembly heat shield.
9. Electrical connectors/harnesses, as necessary.
10. Blower motor resistor. Refer to Blower Motor Resistor.
- To access heater core case to bulkhead mounting bolt.
11. Heater core case to bulkhead mounting bolt.
12. Evaporator and blower module screws and nuts.
13. Acoustic barrier, if equipped.
14. Disassemble evaporator core case system.
15. Evaporator core.

Evaporator Core Assembly:




Install or Connect
1. Evaporator core.
2. Assemble evaporator core case system.
3. Acoustic barrier, if equipped.
4. Evaporator core assembly screws and nuts.

Tighten
- Bolts and stud to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).
- Screw and nuts to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

5. Heater core case to bulkhead mounting bolt.
6. Blower motor resistor. Refer to Blower Motor Resistor.
7. Electrical connectors/harnesses, as necessary.
8. Evaporator core assembly heat shield.
9. Accumulator. Refer to Accumulator.
10. Evaporator tube to evaporator. Refer to Evaporator Tube.
11. Right front wheel house panel. Refer to Wheel House Panel Replacement in Sheet Metal.
12. Right fender. Refer to Render Replacement in Sheet Metal.
13. Hood. Refer to Hood Replacement in Sheet Metal.
14. Refrigerant to the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery.
15. Negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notes.
- Check the system for leaks.
