Vehicle Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect the battery negative cable assembly from the battery negative terminal. Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Support the vehicle with safety stands.





4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the vehicle speed sensor assembly.
5. Place a drain pan under the transmission in order to catch the oil.





6. Remove the following parts:
6.1. The bolt
6.2. The vehicle speed sensor
6.3. The O-ring seal

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Coat a new O-ring seal with a thin film of transmission oil. Use Syndromes Transmission, Fluid or the equivalent.





2. Install the following parts:
2.1. The O-ring on the vehicle speed sensor assembly
2.2. The vehicle speed sensor assembly
2.3. The bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the electrical connector on the vehicle speed sensor assembly.
4. Remove the safety stands.
5. Lower the vehicle.





6. Connect the battery negative cable assembly to the battery negative terminal.

Tighten the bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
