Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.
3. Remove the spark plug wires and ICM electrical connectors.
4. Remove the 3 bolts supporting the ICM assembly plate (2).
5. Remove the ICM assembly from the engine.
6. Remove the ignition coils from the module (1).




7. Remove the module from the assembly plate.

INSTALLATION




1. Install the module to the assembly plate.
2. Install the ignition coils.
Refer to Ignition Coil On-Vehicle Service.
3. Install the ICM assembly onto the engine block.

Tighten
Tighten the ICM assembly bolts (2) to 25 N.m (18 lb in).

4. Install the spark plug wires and ICM electrical connectors.
5. Lower the vehicle
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
