Power Steering Fluid: Service and Repair

1. Turn ON the engine.
2. Operate the engine until the power steering fluid reaches normal operating temperature, about 80°C (170°F).
3. Turn OFF the engine.
4. Clean the area surrounding the reservoir cap.
5. Remove the reservoir cap.
6. Inspect the fluid level. If the fluid level is low, add power steering fluid to the proper level.
7. Reinstall the reservoir cap.
8. When you inspect the fluid level after you service the steering system, bleed the air from the system. Refer to Steering, Service and Repair, Bleeding Power Steering System.
