Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Dust Leaks

Dust will leak into the vehicle where water will not. This happens particularly in the lower portion of the interior. Forward motion of the vehicle creates a slight vacuum which pulls air and dust inside of the vehicle.
Perform the following steps in order to determine the location of dust leaks inside a vehicle:
1. Remove the mats from the floor and the kick panel.
2. Remove the insulation from the floor and the kick panel.
3. Drive the vehicle on a dusty road.
4. Examine the interior.

Dust in the shape of a small cone or slit will usually be found at the point of leakage.

5. Mark the points of leakage.
6. With the interior of the vehicle darkened, shine bright lamps on the underside of the floor and the cowl.
7. Have an assistant check inside for any points where the light shines through.
8. Mark the leakage points.
9. Check the weld joints and body mounts.

Ensure that the sealing of leaks is done with an air-drying, flexible body sealing compound.
