Ignition Switch Does Not Turn To The Lock Position

ISSUE DATE: SEPTEMBER, 2003

Affected Vehicles
1998-Current Rodeo (UE), Rodeo Sport (UA) and Amigo (UA) models equipped with automatic transmission.

Service Information

Condition:

The ignition switch does not turn to the LOCK position and the ignition key cannot be removed.

Possible Cause:

The shift lock cable between the lock cylinder assembly (ignition lock assembly) and the shift lever is out of adjustment.

Correction:

Inspect the adjustment of the shift lock cable at the lock cylinder assembly, if required follow the procedures in this bulletin to adjust the cable at the shift lever.
