All 2002 Isuzu Axiom models with Four Wheel Drive Torque-On-Demand (TOD).
SERVICE INFORMATION
All 2002 Isuzu Axiom models with TOD may exhibit a distinctive engagement sound into four low (4L) while in Neutral ("N"). This condition normally occurs during the initial engagement of 4L (refer to the diagram). 4L can only be engaged when the vehicle is at a stop with the foot on the brake pedal, engine on, and the transmission shift lever in the "N" position. A Clunk-Like sound is considered normal and requires no service.
IMPORTANT:
The TOD switch must be in the 4L position with the transmission shift lever in "N" Neutral in order for the transfer case to engage to 4L. During engagement, a "clunk-like" sound may be heard.
The 4L and TOD operational features should be explained to the customer as part of normal engagement and operation.
