Oil Level Sensor: Service and Repair

Engine Oil Level Sensor and/or Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the engine oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil.





3. Remove the engine protection shield mounting bolts.
4. Remove the engine protection shield.





5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine oil level sensor.
6. Remove the engine oil level sensor mounting bolt.
7. Remove the engine oil level sensor.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the engine oil level sensor.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the engine oil level sensor mounting bolt.
^ Tighten the engine oil level sensor mounting bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the electrical connector to the engine oil level sensor.





4. Install the engine protection shield.
5. Install the engine protection shield mounting bolts.
^ Tighten the engine protection shield mounting bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





6. Install the engine oil drain plug.
^ Tighten the engine oil drain plug bolt to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Fill the crankcase with the proper quantity of engine oil.
