Tools Required
^ J 44219 Engine Cover Alignment Pins

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the engine front cover spacer bolt.
^ Tighten the engine front cover spacer bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
2. Install the crankshaft balancer friction washer over the crankshaft snout, up against the crankshaft gear.





3. Install J 44219.

Important: The engine front cover must be installed within 10 minutes from when the sealer was applied.





4. Apply a 3 mm (0.12 inch) bead of sealer to the back side of the engine front cover (1).
5. Align the oil pump to the crankshaft sprocket splines.
6. Install the engine front cover.
7. Remove J 44219.





8. Install the engine front cover bolts.
8.1. Tighten the engine front cover bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
8 2 Tighten the small center bolt (11 last to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
