Instruments - Compass Zone Adjustment/Calibration

Information: IB07-11-S010

Issue Date: AUGUST 2007

Compass Zone Adjustment And Calibration Procedure During Pre-Delivery Inspection

Affected Vehicles
2007-2008 Isuzu Ascender
2007-2008 Isuzu i-290/i-370 (TI)

Service Information

This bulletin is being issued to emphasize the importance of following Pre-Delivery Inspection instructions in order to eliminate unnecessary part replacements and comeback repairs. Part of the PDI process is to set such items as the trip odometer, clock/calendar, audio station presets and compass variance.

The following identifies an area that is important to a quality PDI that can help improve a customer's perception of your dealership and increase their satisfaction. It is required that the Compass Variance (Zone) and Calibration Procedure be performed even if a vehicle arrives displaying a compass heading. This will ensure the accuracy of the compass information. Refer to the Compass Variance (Zone) and Compass Calibration procedure in the vehicles owner's manual.

Additional Information

Refer to the Compass Variance (Zone) and Compass Calibration procedure during diagnosis of compass concerns. If one of the following occurs, refer to the Compass Calibration procedure:

^ If the letter "C" or "CAL" is displayed in the rearview mirror compass window.

^ If after five seconds, the display does not show a compass heading or displays a stuck (non-changing) heading. This may be due to a strong magnetic field (such as a magnetic-mounted CB antenna, aftermarket speakers or magnetic-mounted emergency lights) interfering with the compass.
