Fuel Return Line: Service and Repair

Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Chassis

Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

IMPORTANT: Clean the fuel/evaporative emissions (EVAP) pipe connections and surrounding areas before disconnecting the pipes in order to avoid possible contamination of the fuel/EVAP system.

2. Raise the cab.

Removing the Fuel Lines
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief (With CH 48027) or Fuel Pressure Relief (Without CH 48027)
2. Remove the fuel line from the clips(3),(7),(4).
3. Remove the fuel feed pipe between the fuel rail(2) and the chassis steel fuel line (5). Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
4. Cap the fuel rail in order to prevent possible contamination of the fuel system.






5. Remove the clip(6) between the fuel line and the vent tube at the fuel tank.
6. Remove the fuel line at the fuel tank. Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
7. Unclip the steel fuel line from the left frame rail and remove.

Removing the EVAP Lines
1. Remove the plastic EVAP line attached to the EVAP canister purge solenoid(8) and steel chassis EVAP line(1) by pushing in the release tab. Plastic Collar Quick Connection Fitting Service Make sure to retain the attachment clip(3)
2. Remove the steel EVAP line from the clips (4),(7).
3. Disconnect the EVAP line(6) at the frame rail. Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service






4. Disconnect the EVAP line from the EVAP canister (2) and steel EVAP line(8) and remove. Plastic Collar Quick Connection Fitting Service
5. Unclip the EVAP line from the left frame rail and remove.
6. Disconnect the EVAP line between the EVAP canister(3) and fuel tank(4) and remove. Plastic Collar Quick Connection Fitting Service
7. Cap the EVAP lines at the fuel tank and EVAP canister to prevent contamination of the EVAP system.
