General System Description

Series III XJ6 electric door locks utilize solenoids to operate lock linkages. The system is operational from either front door interior locking tab or exterior key lock. This will lock or unlock all doors. The trunk lock is activated from the driver's door and locks only. It must be unlocked with a key at the trunk lock.

The door lock solenoids are mounted to brackets that are welded onto door rails. The trunk lock solenoid is mounted on the inner panel of the trunk lid next to the lock assembly.
