Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair

NOTE
The brake system pressure differential warning actuator (P.D.W.A.) unit has been deleted.

This deletion in no way affects the performance of the braking system as the conventional split system is retained.

All steel brake pipes on 1983 model year cars will be plastic coated. This will improve the corrosion resistance of the pipe work.

Pressure Differential Warning Actuator (P.D.W.A.):

REMOVING
1. Disconnect battery.
2. Disconnect electrical lead from P.D.W.A. switch.
3. Disconnect all feed pipes from P.D.W.A. Plug pipes and P.D.W.A. unions to prevent loss of fluid and ingress of dirt.
4. Remove nut and bolt securing P.D.W.A. to wing valance.
5. Remove P.D.W.A. unit from car.

REFITTING
1. Reverse operations above and bleed brakes.
