When investigating faults in the various electrical systems of Jaguar vehicles, it is important to check the integrity, for clean contact and tightness, of the engine to frame ground cable.
On the XJ-S model, the ground cable is located attached to a pan bolt on the left side of the engine which in turn is secured to the sub-frame and continuing to the body shell.

6 cylinder engines are grounded via a cable attached to the right side transmission bellhousing to the frame.
