Ignition System: Description and Operation
A Lucas Constant Energy
Ignition System is fitted to Series-III XJ6 4.2L EFI models. It is a new system and operates by maintaining the energy stored in the coil at a constant level. This allows the output voltage to remain constant over a wide range of engine speeds. The power dissipated in both the coil and module when compared with equivalent constant dwell systems, is greatly reduced.
