Pick-Up Coil: Adjustments

During normal service, the air gap between reluctor and pick-up does not change and would only require resetting if it has been tampered with or the pick-up is replaced.

1. Remove distributor cap, rotor, and flash shield from distributor.
2. Rotate engine until reluctor tooth and pick-up limb are aligned, Fig. 1.

Pick-up Gap Adjustment:

3. Adjust air gap range to 0.008 in (0.20 mm) to 0.014 in (0.35 mm) using a non-metallic feeler gauge.
4. Reassemble distributor.
