Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair

Transmission fluid should be checked with unit at normal operating temperature of 150°-170°F.
1. Start engine, set parking brake and ensure curb idle speed is within specifications.
2. Firmly apply brake and move gear selector through all ranges, allowing transmission time to engage each gear, then return selector to park.
3. With engine running at normal idle speed, withdraw dipstick from tube and check fluid level on dipstick.
4. Add Dexron IID through dipstick tube, if necessary.
5. Do not overfill transmission. If transmission is overfilled, remove sufficient amount to lower level using a suction pump.
