Cranking Signal: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The ECU receives engine cranking indication when the starter solenoid is activated.

OPERATION
To provide starting enrichment, injectors are triggered 3 times per crankshaft revolution. The ECU also calculates any other applicable inputs when calculating injector "ON" time during cranking. When the engine starts, cranking enrichment ceases at 600 rpm and injectors are energized once per crankshaft revolution.
