EGR Tube: Service and Repair

EGR Transfer Pipe Replacement:

NOTE: Number references in text specify numbered components in image.

1. Disconnect spark plug leads to cylinders 3, 4, 5 and 6. Remove rear plug lead bracket.
2. Loosen union nut attaching transfer pipe to EGR housing.
3. Remove bolt securing starter motor harness mounting bracket to intake manifold.
4. Unplug EGR solenoid electrical connector.
5. Release ratchet strap securing injection harness to manifold channel.
6. Raise front of vehicle and place on stands.
7. From below, disconnect oxygen sensor harness multi-plugs.
8. Cut ratchet straps securing harness to transmission oil cooler lines and remove starter solenoid terminal nut.
9. Loosen transfer pipe to manifold union nut.
10. Jack up rear of engine for access and reposition starter motor and oxygen sensor harnesses.
11. Remove transfer pipe (1).
12. Reverse removal procedure to install. Torque union nuts to 28 - 31 ft lb (38 - 42 Nm).
