Rear Bumper: Service and Repair



Rear Bumper Fig. 1:






- Raise/lower vehicle on "4 Post" ramp.
- Remove the exhaust trim.
- Undo and remove bumper assembly to bumper strut fixings (1 Fig. 1).
- Disconnect all multi-plugs.
- Remove the bumper assembly (Fig.1) and place on to a bench.
- Remove left and right-hand side quarter bumper blades (2 & 3 Fig.1).
- Remove centre bumper blade and centre blade finisher (4 & 5 Fig.1).
- Remove trunk seal retainer.
- Remove trunk floor carpet.
- Displace and remove rear lamp cover and trunk side liner.
- Undo and remove strut securing bolts and remove strut (6 Fig.1).

Refit in the reverse order of the removal procedure.


NOTE: The bumper cover mounting guide block to wing clearance should be 40.5 mm. For adjustment slacken the guide block securing bolt (8 Fig. 1) and reposition the guide block (8 Fig. 1). Check for 5 mm clearances between beam assembly to rear valance panel and if necessary turn adjusters to alter beam height to correct setting. On vehicles fitted with energy absorbing struts, adjust struts to achieve a dimension of 38 mm between top of the strut and rear valance panel if necessary.
