ISSUE:
A noise may be heard during initial movement of a window lift mechanism on some Sedan Range vehicles within the above VIN range. To correct this condition, a revised window regulator motor was introduced in production starting with VIN 754305.
ACTION:
In case of a customer complaint of noisy power window operation on a 1995 MY Sedan Range vehicles within the above VIN range, replace the window regulator motor as described below.
REPLACING WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR
1. Remove the veneer panel, and upper and lower trim pads.
2. Using a suitable plastic knife, cut through the sealant bead which holds the water deflector to the inner panel of the door. Move the water deflector aside to allow access to the lift mechanism.
3. Tape the window glass in place using a length of suitable adhesive tape over the upper door frame and fastening it firmly to the glass.
4. Loosen and remove the two torx head screws and the two nuts that retain the window regulator assembly (Illustration 1).
5. After marking their position, remove the two screws that retain the window lift guide (Illustration 1).
6. Remove the harness connector (Illustration 1) from the retaining clip and then disconnect the harness from the motor.
7. Disconnect the window regulator assembly from the window glass channels and lower the regulator assembly to the bottom of the door.
8. Remove the regulator assembly from the door and place it on a workbench.
9. Loosen and remove the three torx head screws (Illustration 1) that retain the motor to the regulator assembly and then remove the motor.
10. Place the new motor on the regulator assembly, using care to fully engage the drive pinion and the segment before installing and tightening the retaining screws.
11. Place the window regulator assembly in position in the door and engage the lift arms in the window glass lift channel.
12. Install and tighten the window regulator assembly retaining screws and nuts.
13. Place the lift guide into position with the screws, using care to align the screws with the marks made when the assembly was removed.
14. Tighten the lift guide retaining screws.
15. Reconnect the harness to the motor and secure the connector in the retaining clip.
16. Reinstall the water deflector in position by applying pressure to the edge and the sealant bead using a suitable tool to ensure proper contact.
17. Remove the supporting tape from the glass.
18. Install the lower and then the upper trim pad.
19. Reinstall the veneer panel.
