System Flow Charts
The following procedures are designed to test the system as a whole, identifying faulty areas and indicating possible solutions by functional operations. Switch ignition ON before commencing test.1. Move column stalk switch to position 1. Does wiper blade operate at normal speed?
Yes: Proceed to step 2.
No: Abort test and refer to Diagnostic Sub-Routines. Diagnostic Sub-Routines
2. Move column stalk switch to position 2. Does wiper blade operate at high speed?
Yes: Proceed to step 3.
No: Abort test and refer to Diagnostic Sub-Routines. Diagnostic Sub-Routines
3. Move column stalk switch to position D and release. Does wiper blade operate at minimum rate (6 seconds delay between each wipe cycle)?
Yes: Proceed to step 4.
No: Abort test and refer to Diagnostic Sub-Routines. Diagnostic Sub-Routines
4. Repeat action in step 3. Does wiper operation cease and blade return to park?
Yes Proceed to step 5.
No. Abort test and refer to Diagnostic Sub-Routines. Diagnostic Sub-Routines
5. Pull column stalk switch towards steering wheel and release. Does wiper blade perform a single sweep and return to park?
Yes: Proceed to step 6.
No: Abort test and refer to Diagnostic Sub-Routines. Diagnostic Sub-Routines
6. Press end of column stalk switch inwards (towards column). Does screen wash/wipe facility operate?
Yes: Proceed to step 7.
No: Abort test and refer to Diagnostic Sub-Routines. Diagnostic Sub-Routines
7. Release stalk switch. Does screen wash cease immediately followed by wiper after a further three cycles.
Yes: Proceed to step 8.
No. Abort test and refer to Diagnostic Sub-Routines. Diagnostic Sub-Routines
8. Switch on sidelights, repeat step 6 and examine headlamp power wash operation. Does power wash operate on the first and then every sixth cycle of screen wash?
Yes: End of test
No: Abort test and refer to Diagnostic SubRoutines. Diagnostic Sub-Routines
