Fuel Level Sensor: Service and Repair







Remove
- Disconnect battery ground lead.
- Remove battery/fuse cover.
- Drain fuel tank.
- Remove trunk floor carpet board.
- Remove trunk front liner.
- Disconnect fuel gauge tank unit feed wires (1).
- Rotate the fuel gauge tank unit securing ring (2) using service tool 18G 1001 (6).
- Remove ring (2).
- Pull fuel gauge tank unit (3) approximately two inches out of the tank and turn 90° clockwise.
- Raise the fuel gauge tank unit and withdraw the float arm (4) from the tank aperture.
- Note the orientation for re-assembly.
- Remove and discard the gasket (5).

Refit in the reverse order of the removal procedure.

NOTE: Always fit new gaskets, do not re-use existing gaskets.
