Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly and disconnect PCV valve hose.
3. Drain cooling system.
4. Mark and disconnect all vacuum lines and electrical connectors from intake manifold and carburetor.
5. Disconnect fuel line from carburetor.
6. Disconnect throttle linkage from carburetor.
7. Remove carburetor and spacer plate from intake manifold.
8. Remove bellcrank and throttle linkage brackets and position aside.
9. Disconnect heater hose from intake manifold.
10. Remove alternator and position aside.
11. Remove intake manifold to cylinder head bolts, then the intake manifold.
12. Reverse procedure to install. Torque cylinder head bolts in sequence shown in Fig. 3. Torque all bolts except bolt No. 7 to 25 ft. lbs. Torque bolt No. 7 to 37 ft. lbs.
