Fuel Delivery and Air Induction: Service Precautions

1. On vehicles with automatic transmission, make sure to apply parking brake and block drive wheels. Do not accelerate engine when transmission is in drive.
2. Start engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature.
3. Perform adjustments with air cleaner installed, or with air cleaner removed and all associated vacuum hoses plugged.
4. Do not idle engine for more than three minutes at a time. If adjustments require more than 3 minutes to perform, operate engine at 2000 rpm (in neutral or park) for one minute between each 3 minute period.
5. Make sure that curb idle speed is adjusted as specified before adjusting idle mixture.
6. Use extreme caution while engine is running. Do not stand in direct line with the fan. Do not place hands near pulleys, fans or belt. Do not wear loose clothing.
