Installation


1. Lightly lubricate release lever pivots.
2. Install pilot bushing lubricating wick into crankshaft bore, if equipped.
3. Install a suitable clutch alignment tool or a spare clutch shaft into driven plate hub.
4. Install assembled plate and tool on flywheel. Ensure that tool is seated fully in the pilot bushing. Ensure that the proper side of the driven plate faces the flywheel.
5. Place pressure plate on flywheel and over driven plate and alignment tool. Align pressure plate and flywheel using the marks made during removal. Install pressure plate attaching bolts finger tight.
6. Torque pressure plate evenly and alternately to 40 ft. lbs. except on CJ, Scrambler and Wrangler models with four cylinder engine. Torque these pressure plate bolts to 23 ft. lbs.
7. Install clutch housing and starter motor.
8. Install throwout bearing and waved washer, if used.
9. Install transmission.
