1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Remove air cleaner.
3. Disconnect fuel line, air horn vent hose and idle speed control hose and wire connector from carburetor or throttle body.
4. Disconnect coolant hoses from manifold and throttle cable from bell crank.
5. Disconnect PCV hose from manifold, then remove vacuum advance CTO valve vacuum hose.
6. Disconnect fuel feedback coolant temperature sender wire connector from manifold, then the air temperature sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
7. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve.
8. If equipped with automatic transmission, disconnect throttle valve linkage, as required.
9. If equipped with power steering, remove power steering pump mounting bracket, then position pump and bracket aside. Do not disconnect hoses from pump.
10. Remove carburetor, if equipped.
11. Disconnect intake manifold heater wire connector, then remove EGR valve tube.
12. Remove intake manifold attaching nuts, bolts and clamps, then the intake manifold.
13. Reverse procedure to install. Torque manifold nuts and bolts to specification in sequence shown in Fig. 3.
