EGR Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
Fig. 10 EGR solenoid vacuum port identification:
1. Check to ensure vacuum is present at solenoid vacuum port C, Fig. 10.
2. Remove vacuum hose connections at solenoid ports A and B.
3. Connect a suitable vacuum gauge to solenoid port B, then start engine and note gauge reading. N vacuum should be present at port B.
4. With engine still operating, disconnect electrical connector from solenoid and note vacuum gauge reading. Vacuum should now be present at solenoid port B.
5. If solenoid fails to operate as described above, replace solenoid. Disconnect vacuum gauge and reconnect vacuum hoses and electrical connector.
