Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair


AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION VEHICLES
The neutral start and back-up light switches are an integral assembly and cannot be replaced separately.
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Disconnect electrical connector from switch.
3. Unscrew switch from transmission and allow fluid to drain into a suitable container.
4. Move shift linkage to PARK and NEUTRAL positions and observe switch operating fingers for proper positioning.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Correct transmission fluid as required, then check back up lights for proper operation.
