Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. With the distributor removed from the engine, remove the rotor, and position the distributor in a vise.

Distributor Gear Removal And Installation:

2. Remove the distributor gear from the shaft using a small punch and a hammer to drive out the retaining roll pin.
3. Remove the distributor shaft from the distributor housing.

Stator Removal/Installation:

4. Mark the stator location in the distributor housing as a reference for reinstallation, and remove the stator retaining screw.
5. Remove the stator harness by pushing the grommet through the housing. Remove the stator assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the stator assembly and retaining screw, referencing the previous mark.
2. Push the stator harness through the distributor housing and position the grommet.
3. Install distributor shaft into the distributor housing, making sure the seals are in place and not damaged.
4. Install distributor gear washer and gear onto distributor shaft. Install gear retaining pin.
5. Install rotor and reinstall distributor.
