Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Diagnostic Notes - Read Before Proceeding

Before starting TEST 1 check the following.

^ Verify proper Fuel Delivery (Fuel System).

^ Verify engine is functioning properly i.e. compression test, rotor rotation and timing belt or chain routing.

^ Move all primary wires, connectors and battery cables by pushing, pulling and twisting by hand. If any bad connectors or corroded connections are found, make necessary repairs to wire or connector.

^ Disconnect secondary wire from ignition coil. Inspect the coil, distributor cap, rotor and ignition wires for cracks or carbon tracking. Replace components as needed. Check vehicle's maintenance schedule to ensure spark plugs and wires have been properly maintained.

^ START TESTING with TEST 1 - This will indicate proper testing sequence. The following is a description of the testing procedures.
