Housing Assembly HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Drain the engine cooling system.
3. Remove the center console. Service and Repair
4. Remove the instrument panel. Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators
5. Remove the heater hoses.
6. If the vehicle has air conditioning, recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Disconnect the refrigerant lines at the expansion valve. Install plugs in, or tape over, all of the open refrigerant fittings.
7. Remove the heater/evaporator housing side cover.
8. Remove the heater core.
9. Remove the defroster duct.
10. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the heater core housing vacuum motors
11. Remove the housing retaining nuts in the engine compartment. Remove the heater housing.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the heater housing retaining nuts in the engine copartment.
2. Install the vacuum hoses.
3. Install the defroster duct.
4. Install the heater core.
5. Install the heater/evaporator housing side cover.
6. Install the heater hoses.
7. If the vehicle has air conditioning, unplug the refrigerant fitting and install the refrigerant lines to the expansion valve. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system.
8. Install the instrument panel. Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators
9. Install the center console. Service and Repair
10. Connect the battery negative cable.
11. Fill the engine cooling system.
