The Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) system is a
radio frequency system that allows the use of a remote radio transmitter to control the power lock and illuminated entry systems. The RKE system consists of the remote key fob transmitter and a radio receiver with program logic, which is installed in an RKE housing on the headliner of the vehicle, or in the housing of the optional
overhead console, depending upon how the vehicle is equipped.
