Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Application and ID
All 1999 Jeep Cherokees (XJ) vehicles equipped with a 4.0 liter engine and automatic transmission have an AW4 electronic transmission.

The transmission I.D. plate is attached to the case. The plate contains the transmission serial and model numbers. Refer to the information on this plate when ordering service parts.
