Windshield Washer Switch: Testing and Inspection
Right Multi-Function Switch Test:
The windshield and rear wiper switches and the windshield and rear washer switches are integral to the right multi-function switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper System or Rear Wiper System Diagnosis before testing the right multi-function switch.
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIR-BAGS, REFER TO AIRBAGS SYSTEMS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIR-BAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector from the right multi-function switch connector receptacle.
3. Using an ohmmeter, perform the continuity and resistance tests at the terminals in the switch connector receptacle as shown in the Right Multi- Function switch Test chart.
4. If the right multi. function switch fails any of the continuity or resistance tests, replace the faulty right multi-function switch unit as required.
