Removal
REMOVAL / NV1500 Manual Transmission1. Shift transmission into neutral.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove skid plate if equipped.
4. Remove wiring connectors from the transmission.
5. Remove propeller shaft/shafts.
6. Remove transfer case shift cable, vent hose from and transfer case, if equipped.
7. Remove slave cylinder from clutch housing.
8. Remove starter.
9. Support engine with jack stand. Position wood block between jack and oil pan to avoid damaging pan.
10. Support transmission with a bans jack.
11. Remove exhaust hanger from the transmission crossmember.
12. Remove transmission dust shield.
13. Remove transmission mount and crossmember.
14. Lower bans jack enough to remove shift tower bolts.
15. Lower transmission jack and remove transmission from under vehicle.
16. Pull transmission jack rearward until input shaft clears clutch.
17. Remove clutch release bearing, release fork and retainer clip.
18. Remove clutch housing from transmission.
EXTENSION HOUSING SEAL / REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Mark propeller shaft and axle yoke for alignment reference.
3. Disconnect and remove propeller shaft.
4. Remove old seal with Remover C-3985-B from transmission housing.
