WARNING: Do not remove the liftgate support cylinders with the backlite closed. The support cylinder pistons are operated by high pressure gas and could cause personal injury and/or vehicle damage if they are removed with the pistons compressed (backlite closed). Once removed, do not attempt to disassemble or repair the support cylinders.

1. Make sure the retaining clips (1) are seated into the ball socket (2) fully.

2. Install the support cylinder (2) over the ball studs (3) with the thin end connected to the body and the retaining clips snapping into place.
