A/C COMPRESSOR

NOTE: Denso 5SE12 A/C Compressor shown. Denso 6SEU16 Compressor similar.

The A/C system on models equipped with the 2.0L diesel engine use the Denso 5SE12 A/C compressor. This A/C compressor is a five cylinder, clutch-less, variable displacement, swash plate type compressor with a total displacement of 120 cubic centimeters (7.3 cubic inches).

The A/C system on all gasoline engine equipped models use the Denso 6SEU16 A/C compressor. This A/C compressor is a six cylinder, clutch-less, variable displacement, swash plate type compressor with a total displacement of 160 cubic centimeters (9.8 cubic inches).

Both A/C compressors have a high pressure relief valve (2) and a control valve (3) located on the back cover. On the 5SE12 A/C compressor, the engine wire harness connects directly to the control valve. The 6SEU16 A/C compressor has a wire lead that is 300mm (11.8 inch) long, with an electrical connector that connects the control valve to the engine wire harness.

The A/C compressor on all models has a label identifying the use of R-134a and is secured with three bolts to the compressor bracket at the front of the engine.
