C. Replace the Left Rear Wheel Brake Tube (Left Hand Drive)
1. If not previously removed, remove and save the left front plastic wheel liner.2. If not previously removed, remove and save the master cylinder-to-HCU brake tube (Figure 10).
3. Disconnect the left rear wheel brake tube at the HCU (Figure 10).
4. Remove the brake tube from the brake tube bundle clip located next to the HCU (Figure 10).
5. Lift the vehicle halfway up on the hoist.
6. Remove the left rear wheel.
7. Disconnect the brake tube from the left rear wheel flex hose connector (Figure 11).
8. Separate the brake tube from the plastic retainer located on the frame (Figure 11).
9. Lift the vehicle all the way up on the hoist.
10. Starting at the rear of the vehicle, unsnap the brake tube from the plastic clips along the frame.
11. Using a diagonal pliers, cut the brake tube into sections and remove.
12. Install a small rubber vacuum cap or piece of tape over the new rear brake tube openings to prevent dirt from getting into the brake tube during installation.
13. With the help of an assistant, install the new rear section of brake tube by feeding it forward through the rear wheel opening.
CAUTION:
Use extreme care not to scratch the black tube coating during installation.
14. Snap the new brake tube into the plastic retainers on the frame.
15. Lower the vehicle from the hoist halfway.
16. Connect the new rear section brake tube to the left rear wheel flex hose connector (Figure 11). Tighten the brake tube flare nut to 170 in. lbs. (19 N.m).
17. Install the left rear wheel. Tighten the lug nuts to 100 ft. lbs. (135 N.m).
18. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
19. Remove and discard the upper portion of the original left rear brake tube.
20. Install the new upper brake tube into position.
21. Loosely connect the front section of the left rear brake tube to the HCU. Do not tighten the flare nut at this time.
22. Lift the vehicle all the way up on the hoist.
23. Connect the front and rear brake tube sections at the connector.
Tighten the connector flare nut to 170 in. lbs. (19 N.m).
24. Lower the vehicle.
25. Install the brake tube into the remaining tube retainers.
26. Tighten the brake tube flare nut at the HCU to 170 in. lbs. (19 N.m).
27. Install the master cylinder-to-HCU brake tube. Tighten the flare nuts to 170 in. lbs. (19 N.m).
28. Install the left front plastic wheel liner using new fasteners.
29. Continue to Section F - Replace Wheel Opening Liner Retainers.
