Body - Wind Noise From Freedom Top(R) At Highway Speed

Freedom Top Windnoise
OVERVIEW:
This involves the addition of adhesive to the leading edge of the right side freedom panel only to prevent wind noise at the header area.
MODELS:
2010 (JK) Wrangler
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before October 22, 2009 (MDH1022XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience wind noise from the header when the vehicle is at highway speeds.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator experiences the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
NOTE:
One Cartridge of Mopar 05017148AA will service approximately 6 vehicles.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the right freedom top panel. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > : Service Info > 23-Body > Removable Top, Hard > Removal.
2. Identify the leading edge seam of the freedom top panel (Fig. 1).
3. Clean the seam with isopropyl alcohol or an equivalent cleaner.
4. Apply masking tape along the edges of the seam (Fig. 2).
5. Using a brush smooth the adhesive so it has a uniform like appearance.
NOTE:
Remove the masking tape once the adhesive has been brushed.
6. When the adhesive has fully cured install the freedom panel. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT >: Service Info > 23-Body > Removable Top, Hard > Installation.
7. Return the vehicle to the customer.
