Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Tube - Removal

REMOVAL

1. Remove the nut (2) and support bracket (1) from the purge and fuel tubes.

2. Remove the studbolt (2) from the retaining bracket on the EGR tube (1).

3. Remove the EGR tube mounting bolts (2) from the upper intake manifold.

CAUTION: Do not allow any loose dirt to enter the EGR valve. Debris can lodge between the EGR valve pintle and seat causing valve leakage that will give a rough idle and depressed manifold vacuum.

4. Remove the EGR tube mounting bolts (3) and the EGR tube (4).

NOTE: Replace the EGR tube gasket (5) and silicone rubber seal any time the EGR tube is removed from the intake manifold.

5. Discard the gasket (5) and silicone rubber seal.

6. Clean the gasket surface on the EGR valve.
